JV implementation to secure low-cost sourcing

CONTEXT

• Client is a division of a large French automotive company with global operations, faced with the rapid decline of its 2-wheeler division (competition from low-cost players)
• Urgent need to secure low-cost sourcing in China

OBJECTIVES

• To set up a JV platform in China, within a short timeframe

TEAM

• 4 Newbridge consultants  for negotiation and interaction with lawyers , project management and construction follow-up
• An interim Head of Development for product platform design

TASKS

• Project organized in 3 streams: negotiation (4 months) / construction (14 months) / product development
  • Audit of Chinese partner’s production facilities and cash situation (inventories, creditors/debtors)
  • Lead on the negotiation of JV agreements (involving lawyers) leading up to approval by the Chinese authorities
  • Management and coordination of the industrial site (tenders, purchase of main equipment, follow-up of construction, commissioning)
  • Coordination of the set-up of the product platform (support for interim Head of Development)
  • Recruitment of CEO and Director of Quality

OUTCOME

• Start of operations on line with initial schedule
